Added a ShareThis button for all you dying to share the awesomeness.

If you're looking for an awesome song you haven't heard before you are in the right place. This site represents a playlist systematically designed to maximize AWESOMENESS by meeting the following critera:

  • It's AWESOME.
  • It's fairly obscure. This is obviously a subjective standard, but I don't want songs that everyone's heard no matter how awesome.
  • You can listen to it right now online for free.

Both Hands

Ani DiFranco

Hallelujah! The search is over...I have finally found a usable video for "Both Hands" by Ani. I have searched long and hard as this is one of the few songs that is rated 100 on my Launchcast Station. Not only that but it has not gotten downgraded as some other songs I thought were 100s have. (Both "America" by Simon and Garfunkel and "Piano Man" by Billy Joel have been demoted due to being played too much.) So I literally have been looking for a decent version of this song since I started this site. What have I found?!? Well let me tell you:

1.) The version where she does it electric. Not my favorite.
2.) 1532 chicks and 205 dudes trying miserably to cover it.
3.) This interpretive dance done to it. Unfortunately it was done with bad sound quality or it would have gotten the nod a while back. I have subsequently found that choreographing dance numbers to this song is a common phenomenon. (Making a damn video of the album version in its entirety is apparently not.)
4.) This...singing group doing it A Capella. I actually kind of like this, but the thing where groups of young girls are doing interpretive dance or singing groups to Ani just strikes me as...counter-intuitive?

I can not tell you the sense of relief I have that I can finally add this song to the list and move on with my life. I was seriously considering asking someone to do a video for the song. Now if I can only find "Mr. Blue" by Yaz (the album version).

kinda unknown tune

From the Stones last collection, some airplay in the NY area...great tune, the Glimmer Twins don't change...why fix if it ain't broke?

Jesse Malin with a tasty guest

Tremendous images of NYC with a beautiful tune:

One of the many cool things about Bruce is his willingness to appear on so many people's albums. I've been waiting for someone to put up the video to Joe Ely's "All Just To Get To You." If anyone has video of that and uploads it to Youtube I will be ecstatic. I've been looking for that almost as long as I've been looking for "Both Hands."
