Rock Steady

The Whispers

Well holy flaming crap. My mind has been blown and I'm having some trouble recovering. Just too much fantastic input in too short of a time. Let's see if we can all get our heads around all of this. Now I love this song but I didn't know who The Whispers were, I have to confess. Nor had I ever seen the video and it has convinced me of one thing: If you are a band from the 60's, don't let your record label convince you that you have to dance in your video. Even if they invent a dance you can all do, it doesn't mean it's going to be cool. You're a band going all the way back to the 60's, you don't need their damn dance. Plus you have some of the most kick-ass facial hair and afros I've ever seen, so I'll say it again, you don't need their damn dance.

But now let's get to the meat of why I've had to put cotton in my ears to keep my melted brain from seeping out. Check this out, you will regret it, but it's like a car accident, you have to look:

Now did you just see what I saw, or is this a freaking hallucination. As far as I can tell, that was some 11 year old kid on the Mickey Mouse Club singing Rock Steady to a similarly aged girl. Now they changed some of the lyrics, but that only means that they knew what this song was about and still chose to have pre-pubescent kids sing it. What in the world is going on here? If you want an explanation of the Sub-Prime crisis and the ensuing problems in the American economy it's all right there. This is the video they will play in 2050 when the Chinese are trying to explain how America fell and they rose to power. Also, am I being overly harsh or can that kid not sing at all!?!?!? Like he's horrible, right? Right?!?

Smoother than Carnation Milk

Love the groove. Dig the dance steps. But the facial hair is what drives me crazy!
